According to a recent study conducted by Aceper, the Association of Consumers and Producers of Renewable Energy, founded in December 2014 by a group of entrepreneurs who have invested in renewable sources,

Piedmont is the Italian region that produces the most electricity from photovoltaic systems, with a total of 139,917,414 kWh. It is followed by Lombardy (66,305,239 kWh) and Veneto (49,221,066 kWh), but numbers are growing across Italy, with the country now having 808,122 residential photovoltaic systems.

The research considered over 5,000 systems across 17 regions of the Boot and took into account both actual production and expected production, determining the ratio between the two values. According to this calculation, the most virtuous region is Valle d’Aosta, with 960,391.2 kWh actually produced and 1,011,520 kWh of expected production, giving a ratio of 95%, compared to the national average of 65%. Emilia-Romagna follows, with Piedmont in third place, boasting, as previously mentioned, the highest number of kWh produced.
