TURIN (ITALPRESS) – According to data from research conducted by Aceper (Association of Consumers and Producers of Renewable Energy)
Based on a sample of over 5,000 photovoltaic plants located in 17 Italian regions, Piedmont ranks first in the production of photovoltaic energy and third for “virtuousness,” meaning the ratio of actual energy produced to expected energy in terms of production. “This result reflects a reality already geared towards the development of renewable energy sources, which will be further enhanced by the actions we have initiated as the Piedmont Region to achieve the European targets for 2030,” comments Matteo Marnati, Piedmont Regional Councilor for Environment and Energy.
Starting with the approval on March 15 of our Regional Environmental Energy Plan, which is based on four fundamental directives: development of renewable energy sources, reduction of energy consumption, development of the green economy, and the definitive establishment of a distributed generation model that will particularly support the development of energy communities.” “A model,” adds the Councilor, “that will allow, in parallel with achieving the goals set by the 2030 Agenda, to also reach as much energy autonomy as possible.” Energy communities are a strong point of regional policy: Piedmont was the first region to start this initiative, with the approval of a dedicated regional law, the first in Italy.
Since December 2020, provisions and incentives have been in place to develop collective self-consumption systems from renewable sources, and energy communities are currently being successfully tested in four areas of the region. “While awaiting the release of the decree for the establishment of energy communities,” concludes the Councilor, “this data thus demonstrates our region’s great capacity to invest in photovoltaics: we are only at the beginning of a path that will lead us to triple this figure by 2030.”
