Installed renewable power grows by triple digits: According to the FER Observatory, in the first half of 2022, there was a +168% increase compared to the first half of 2021. Among energy sources, photovoltaics leads with a +193% growth, reaching a capacity of 1,061 MW, while wind energy accounts for 123 MW.
Looking at regional differences, a study by ACEPER (Association of Consumers and Producers of Renewable Energies) shows that Piedmont is the most virtuous region in terms of solar power electricity production, followed by Lombardy and Veneto.
Piedmont: A Model Example in Project Quality
Piedmont has made significant strides in renewables in recent years and is now one of Italy’s most attractive markets, not only for the size of installed capacity but also for the technological quality of the projects being developed. This is confirmed by the Turin-based company Coesa, which specializes in renewable energy and energy efficiency for households, businesses, and public administration. Thanks to the market push in this area, Coesa anticipates a 65% annual revenue growth over the next two years.
In this particular energy market context, marked by high energy costs, “the challenge is not only to make homes more efficient but especially businesses. For a company, renewables are a strategic investment and help mitigate market fluctuations while recovering margins,” emphasizes Federico Sandrone, CEO of Coesa and Vice President of the Young Entrepreneurs Group in Turin.
Technology and New Markets in Coesa’s Strategy
Founded in Turin in 2012, Coesa places a strong emphasis on technology and recently won an EU tender in collaboration with Spanish company R2M Solution and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. This partnership aims to develop next-generation photovoltaic panels that will combine traditional silicon technology with thermoelectric materials to generate energy from thermal variations.
Coesa is also part of the AEWEN (Africa Europe Water Energy Network) program, which includes 15 European companies working alongside institutions and businesses in North Africa to develop renewable energy production.
