This achievement is made possible by the implementation of goals aimed at meeting European standards by 2030.

The Results for Photovoltaics in Piedmont

The regional councilor of Piedmont, Matteo Marnati, comments: “A result that captures a reality already geared towards the development of renewable energy sources, which will be further enhanced by the actions we have initiated as the Piedmont Region to achieve the European objectives for 2030.”

Starting with the approval of the Regional Energy and Environmental Plan on March 15, structured around four key areas: development of renewable energy sources, reduction of energy consumption, development of the green economy, and the definitive establishment of a distributed generation model, the development of energy communities will be particularly encouraged.

The councilor continues: “A model that will allow, alongside achieving the goals set by the 2030 Agenda, to reach as much energy autonomy as possible.”

The Future of Renewable Energy in Piedmont

Energy communities are indeed a strength of the regional policy: Piedmont was the first region to embark on this experience, with the approval, as the first region in Italy, of a dedicated regional law.

Since December 2020, regulations and incentives have been in place to develop collective self-consumption systems from renewable sources, and currently, energy communities are being successfully tested in four areas of the region.

Councilor Marnati concludes: “While awaiting the release of the decree for the establishment of energy communities, this data demonstrates the great capacity of our Region to invest in photovoltaics: we are only at the beginning of a journey that will lead us to triple this figure by 2030.”
