“A result that reflects a reality already focused on the development of renewable sources, which will be further advanced by the actions we, as the Piedmont Region, have undertaken to achieve the European goals for 2030,” comments Matteo Marnati, Regional Councillor for the Environment and Energy. “This includes the approval on March 15 of our Regional Environmental Energy Plan, structured around four fundamental pillars: the development of renewable energy sources, reduction of energy consumption, development of the green economy, and the definitive establishment of a distributed generation model, which will particularly support the development of energy communities.”
“This model,” adds the councillor, “will allow us, alongside achieving the goals set by the 2030 Agenda, to also attain greater energy autonomy.”
Energy communities are a strong point of regional policy: Piedmont was the first region to embark on this initiative, being the first in Italy to pass a regional law dedicated to it.
Since December 2020, provisions and incentives have been in place to develop collective self-consumption systems from renewable sources, and currently, energy communities are being successfully tested in 4 areas of the region.
“While we await the release of the decree for the establishment of energy communities,” concludes the councillor, “this data demonstrates the great capacity of our Region to invest in photovoltaics: we are just at the beginning of a path that will lead us to triple this figure by 2030.”
