Valle d’Aosta is the region with the highest efficiency in solar energy production, followed by Emilia Romagna and Piedmont. This is stated by a study from Aceper (Association of Consumers and Producers of Renewable Energy), which brings together 10,000 renewable energy production plants, representing over 7,000 members, with a total installed capacity exceeding 2 GWp.

A sample survey was conducted on 5,236 photovoltaic plants in 17 Italian regions. The efficiency of a region depends more or less on the ratio between the actual PV production and the expected PV production, which is estimated according to the official measurement tool Pvgis (Photovoltaic Geographical Information System).

Aceper Ranking: Piedmont and Aosta Valley at the top

The Aceper Ranking considers Valle d’Aosta the most favorable region with an actual production of 960,391 kWh, while the energy production measured by PVGIS is 1,011,502 kWh, resulting in a 95% ratio between actual and expected production. The national average is 65%. Emilia Romagna is second on the podium with 37,939,525 kWh actual production and 43,840,630 kWh estimated (87%). In third place is Piedmont with 139,917,414 kWh actual production and 162,741,031 kWh estimated (86%), but the region ranks first in the quantity of kWh generated by photovoltaics.

With an 85% ratio, there are three regions: Abruzzo, producing 20,100,052 kWh and expecting 23,625,127 kWh; Liguria, producing 5,187,522 kWh and expecting 6,108,499 kWh; and Lombardy, second in photovoltaic production, producing 66,305,239 kWh and expecting 78,089,977 kWh. Veneto is the third largest producer in Italy, with a production of 49,221,066 kWh and an expected 58,691,563 kWh (an 84% ratio).
